    U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.17% By Investing.com

    Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

    At the close in London, the gained 0.17% to hit a new all time high.

    The best performers of the session on the were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which rose 2.93% or 19.50 points to trade at 685.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:) added 2.85% or 72.50 points to end at 2,620.50 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:) was up 2.55% or 185.00 points to 7,455.00 in late trade.

    The worst performers of the session were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:), which fell 2.20% or 8.50 points to trade at 377.80 at the close. Hiscox Ltd (LON:) declined 2.17% or 24.00 points to end at 1,080.00 and Beazley PLC (LON:) was down 1.48% or 12.50 points to 833.50.

    Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 839 to 821 and 633 ended unchanged.

    Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.85% or 23.49 to $2,725.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.07% or 0.83 to hit $76.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.67 to trade at $80.12 a barrel.

    GBP/USD was up 0.85% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.85.

    The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.94% at 108.18.
