    • Nick Reiner will be charged with first-degree murder in his parents’ deaths, prosecutors said Tuesday.
    • Director Rob Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in Los Angeles.
    • Prosecutors said Nick Reiner could face life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.

Nick Reiner is set to be charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his parents, legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, producer Michele Singer Reiner, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The couple was found dead at their home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles on Sunday. The younger Reiner, age 32, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. PT on Sunday.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced the charges during a press conference, saying they would be filed Tuesday. Hochman said the charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. He added a decision on seeking the death penalty has not yet been made.

The Los Angeles Police Department, which investigated the deaths, previously said in a statement that it “determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide” and that Nick Reiner “was responsible for their deaths.”

Correction: December 16, 2025 — This story was corrected to reflect the correct name. Director Rob Reiner died, not Rick Reiner.
