In-flight Internet name Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO) gained 3.6% after it gained a key regulatory approval for antenna terminals on business aircraft.
The Federal Communications Commission has signed off on Gogo’s Galileo HDX and FDX terminals, designed to provide broadband via low Earth orbit satellites.
“Receiving the [Earth station in motion] license for the HDX and FDX terminals represents an important milestone in bringing the Gogo Galileo service to market by year-end,” said Gogo’s general counsel and secretary, Crystal Gordon.
“This regulatory milestone also paves the way for additional regulatory authorizations in other countries,” she added.
The HDX terminal is set for flight testing beginning in the summer, and the company says it’s on track for certification and commercial launch later this year.
At the end of 2023, Gogo noted 7,205 business aircraft flying with its broadband air-to-ground systems onboard.
