    ‘Godzilla X Kong’ holds top box-office spot for 2nd weekend (NASDAQ:WBD)

    “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” kept its spot as the No. 1 film in the United States for a second week in a row. The monster movie, released by Warner Bros. (NASDAQ:WBD) and Legendary Pictures, grossed an estimated $31.7 million to lift its domestic total to $135 million, according to data compiled by Comscore.

    Actor and director Dev Patel’s “Monkey Man,” a revenge thriller released by Universal Pictures (CMCSA), opened at No. 2 with an estimated $10.1 million among 3,029 theaters.

    “Ghosbusters: Frozen Empire” from Sony was in third place with $9 million in its third weekend to total $88.8 million domestically.

    In fourth place was “The First Omen” from Disney’s (DIS) 20th Century Studios with an estimated $8.4 million in gross sales among 3,375 theaters. The horror film is a prequel to “The Omen,” released in 1976 and starring Gregory Peck and Lee Remick.

    “Dune: Part Two” from Warner Bros. added $7.2 million in its sixth week to bring its domestic total to $264 million.

    The estimated ticket sales cover Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters. Final box-office numbers will be released on Monday.

    10. “Immaculate,” $1.4 million.
