The immediate catalyst was September US CPI: annual inflation accelerated to 3.7% from 3.4%, above the 3.6% forecast, while core inflation rose to 2.6%. Hotter inflation can delay expected Fed easing, pressuring risk assets through tighter rate expectations and weaker liquidity.
