Whether you’re taking GLP-1s for weight loss or other reasons, it’s important to still hit your nutritional goals.

GLP-1s are changing how a lot of people eat, and not just because they can curb appetite. When you’re eating less overall, what you choose to eat suddenly matters a whole lot more.

As a registered dietitian, my focus is pretty consistent no matter who I’m working with: protect muscle mass with adequate protein, support fullness and digestion with fiber, and ensure micronutrients don’t fall through the cracks when portions shrink.

I also think it matters that people actually enjoy what they’re eating, because that’s what makes any of this sustainable.

That’s where Costco comes in. It’s one of my favorite places to grab high-quality protein, gut-friendly staples, and smart yet fun snacks all in one place.

Everyone’s individual needs are different, and it’s worth checking in with your medical team before making changes to your diet.

However, if I were taking a GLP-1, here’s what I’d put in my cart.

Pears are one of the highest-fiber fruits, and they can double as vehicles for nut butter.

Pears can pair nicely with almond butter.

    Lauren Manaker

A medium-sized pear delivers about 5 ½ grams of fiber, which goes a long way toward supporting digestion and keeping you satisfied between small meals.

Plus, the fruit is rich in antioxidants and super hydrating because it’s mostly water.

These are a great snack on their own. However, when appetite is low, a pear makes a great base for something more filling.

I like slicing one up and adding a smear of nut butter. It’s a simple snack that pairs fiber with protein and healthy fat without any real effort.

Kevin’s Natural Foods’ chimichurri beef can be a decent source of iron and protein.

Kevin’s Natural Foods’ chimichurri beef is fairly easy to heat up.

    Lauren Manaker

When eating less on a GLP-1, you can be at risk of not getting enough of certain nutrients, including iron and protein. Both are important for things like immune function, energy metabolism, and overall health.

Beef is a great dietary source of both, which is a big part of why this premade dish earns a spot on my list.

Kevin’s Natural Foods’ chimichurri beef has 21 grams of protein and 3mg of iron per serving, with no added sugars and a short ingredient list.

Plus, it’s super flavorful and easy to prepare because it’s fully cooked and quick to heat. The chimichurri adds a bright, herby flavor that helps keep dinner from feeling bland, which matters even more when your appetite is lower.

Serve it over rice with roasted veggies or tuck it into a grain bowl for a more balanced meal.

Sipping bone broth can be a gentle way to get protein while helping with hydration.

I’ve seen Butcher’s bone broth at Costco.

    Lauren Manaker

When appetite is low or a full meal feels like too much, drinking your nutrients can be helpful.

Bone broth is a solid protein source that can help support hydration, something that’s easy to overlook if you’re eating and drinking less, especially if you are experiencing nausea — a common GLP-1 side effect.

Along with 11 grams of protein per serving, this contains electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, which help support fluid balance.

Sip it warm on its own, or use it as a base for soups and grains to add protein and electrolytes to your meal with minimal effort.

Kimchi can support gut health and add flavor to just about anything.

Jongga kimchi on display at Costco

Jongga kimchi contains sliced napa cabbage.

    Lauren Manaker

Gastrointestinal changes are common on GLP-1s. Luckily, fermented foods can help your body deal with disruptions to your gut microbiome and digestion.

Kimchi, like this one from Jongga, brings probiotics that may support digestive health — and it adds a punch of flavor that makes smaller meals more interesting and satisfying.

If you tolerate spice, it’s easy to work this into lots of dishes. Stir it into rice, top a bowl of eggs with it, or serve it alongside your protein. A small amount can go a long way.

Kirkland Signature blackened Atlantic salmon is a protein-packed pick rich in omega-3s.

Salmon pairs well with roasted veggies.

    Lauren Manaker

Salmon is one of my go-to proteins, and these frozen fillets from Costco make it genuinely convenient to eat. One serving of Kirkland Signature blackened Atlantic salmon has 29 grams of protein.

It’s also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can support heart and brain health. Omega-3s may also help combat inflammation, making it a nutrient worth prioritizing when you’re eating less overall.

The seasoning is already done, so you just heat and eat this salmon. Flake it over a salad, serve it with roasted veggies, or pair it with rice for a quick, balanced dinner.

RxBars are a solid grab-and-go protein snack with no added sugar.

    RX Bar boxes at Costco

RxBars are easy to toss in a purse or backpack.

    Lauren Manaker

When taking a GLP-1, appetite can be unpredictable. Having a reliable, no-prep snack on hand means you’re less likely to skip protein when hunger does show up.

Individually wrapped and simple, RxBars are easy to keep in a bag or locker for busier days when a full meal just isn’t happening.

Each bar in this pack contains 12 grams of protein, 5 to 6 grams of fiber, and no added sugar. I also appreciate the short list of ingredients.

Pistachios deliver complete plant protein and support mindful snacking.

    Wonderful pistachios at Costco

Wonderful pistachios come in different flavors.

    Lauren Manaker

A pistachio’s protein is considered especially high-quality compared with many other snack nuts. Simply put, pistachios deliver a more complete mix of amino acids than you might expect from a grab-and-go snack.

These Wonderful pistachios provide 6 grams of protein per serving.

That protein matters, since maintaining muscle can be a real concern when you’re eating less on a GLP-1. Add 3 grams of fiber per serving and unsaturated fats, and you get a trio of nutrients that may help keep you fuller longer.

A serving is roughly 49 pistachios, which feels like a generous, satisfying handful rather than a tiny portion.

Opting for in-shell pistachios may offer even more benefits. Leftover shells can serve as a visual cue of how much you’ve eaten, gently supporting mindful snacking.

Olipop mini cans can be a smart pick when you want something sweet.

    Olipop mini cans at Costco

Each Olipop mini contains 25 calories.

    Lauren Manaker

I like that these 7 ½-ounce Olipop mini cans are a fun, flavorful treat in a smaller serving.

These can feel more manageable on GLP-1 medications when you want something sweet, but a full-size soda or full dessert doesn’t sound as appealing.

These are lower in sugar than traditional sodas and offer 3 grams of prebiotic fiber per can, which gives them a little more nutritional value than your average soft drink.

A Zespri SunGold kiwi brings vitamin C, fiber, and hydration in a few easy bites.

    golden kiwis at Costco

When I want a sweet, fiber-filled snack, I grab a Zespri SunGold kiwi.

    Lauren Manaker

SunGold kiwis can be a convenient fruit to keep around if you’re on a GLP-1.

Their golden flesh is sweeter and less tart than that of a green kiwi, and the smoother skin makes them easy to eat whole for extra fiber. (Yes, you can eat the skin!)

They’re also especially rich in vitamin C, even more than an orange, which can be helpful when you’re eating less overall.

Since they’re sweet, hydrating, and require almost no prep, they are a light, refreshing option for snack time or dessert.

Milton’s cauliflower-crust pizza proves you don’t have to give up your favorite foods on a GLP-1.

Milton's cauliflower crust pizza at Costco

Cauliflower-crust pizza can pair well with a side salad.

    Lauren Manaker

This frozen pizza is a good example of a comfort food that still pulls its nutritional weight.

It’s got a gluten-free cauliflower crust, roasted vegetables, and real cheese. Each serving contains 12 grams of protein and 319 mg of calcium, which is 25% of the recommended daily value.

I’ve found it’s one of those options that makes eating feel comforting and familiar without being too heavy, thanks to the lighter, veggie-forward base.

A slice or two can feel satisfying when appetite is smaller. The pizza pairs well with a simple salad or a side of veggies to round out a meal, too.
