Axonics (NASDAQ:AXNX) said Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court in Delaware alleging the company has infringed upon two Medtronic (MDT) implantable device patents.
The medical device company said Medtronic claims Axonics infringed upon patents related to a “patient programmer with automated MRI compatibility verification.”
Axonics CEO Raymond Cohen said in a statement that his company believes Medtronic is trying to stifle competition with the suit and “protect the incumbent’s market position.” He added that Axonics intends to “vigorously” defend itself against the accusations.
Axionics markets an implantable neurostimulator system for the treatment of incontinence that includes a programmer device, according to its website.
