    • Watch classic 1980s movies like “Dirty Dancing” and “The Goonies” on Netflix this October.
    • There are also other hits available like “Taxi Driver” and “Point Break.”
    • The Netflix original movie “The Woman in Cabin 10” starring Keira Knightley premieres later this month.

October isn’t just spooky season — with the arrival of some classic movies on Netflix, it’s also time to brush up on some old favorites.

Here are the eight standout titles available on the streamer now.

    “Blue Crush” (October 1)

    Blue Crush Universal

Michelle Rodriguez, Kate Bosworth, and Sanoe Lake in “Blue Crush.”

    Universal

Kate Bosworth and Michelle Rodriguez star as friends who get their kicks surfing the gnarliest waves in Oahu.

Packed with beautiful Hawaiian scenery and a sweet love story, “Blue Crush” is the perfect watch for anyone who prefers summer to pumpkin spice season.

    “Dirty Dancing” (October 1)

Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in “Dirty Dancing.”

    Vestron Pictures

This classic late-1980s love story stars Jennifer Grey as a young woman vacationing in the Catskills who falls for the resort’s bad boy dance instructor, played by Patrick Swayze.

Show up for the steamy dance sequences, stay for the killer soundtrack.

    “The Goonies” (October 1)

Jeff Cohen, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, and Ke Huy Quan in 'The Goonies."

    Warner Bros.

We stay in the 1980s for this classic coming-of-age adventure comedy, which follows a group of teens searching for a lost treasure in hopes of saving their childhood homes.

The collection of talent behind the scenes — story by Steven Spielberg, screenplay by Chris Columbus, and directed by Richard Donner — resulted in a landmark work in the action comedy genre.

    “The Mask” (October 1)

Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz in "The Mask" (1994).

    New Line Cinema

Jim Carrey puts his outlandish comedic talents on full display to play a hapless bank teller who transforms into a cartoonish troublemaker when he puts on a magical mask.

The movie also marks Cameron Diaz’s acting debut.

    “Point Break” (October 1)

    point break 20th Century Fox

Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in “Point Break.”

    20th Century Fox

Patrick Swayze once more is on the list, this time trading his dancing shoes for guns and a surfboard.

In “Point Break,” he plays the head of a bank-robbing team known as the “Ex-Presidents” (they rob banks wearing masks of, you guessed it, former presidents). Keanu Reeves plays the FBI agent who goes undercover to infiltrate the group, which he comes to learn are thrill-seeking surfers.

    “Taxi Driver” (October 1)

Robert De Niro in "Taxi Driver."

    Columbia Pictures Corporation

One of the greatest collaborations between Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, this twisted tale set in late 1970s New York City chronicles the life of Travis Bickle (De Niro), a mentally unstable taxi driver whose sanity is pushed to the limit as he works nights driving around the city.

“Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” (October 1)

Vince Vaughn wears a yellow uniform while throwing a ball in "Dodgeball."

    Twentieth Century Fox

Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller are at their best in this silly comedy in which the duo play gym owners who settle their grievances in the only logical setting: a dodgeball tournament.

Rip Torn is a highlight in the movie as the aging dodgeball legend who has some unconventional methods to prepare Vaughn’s team for the tournament.

“The Woman in Cabin 10” (October 10)

Keira Knightley standing on a boat

Keira Knightley and Guy Pearce in “The Woman in Cabin 10.”

    Netflix

Based on the novel by Ruth Ware, this Netflix original movie stars Keira Knightley as a journalist covering the maiden voyage of a luxury cruise ship who becomes convinced that a passenger has been thrown overboard.

This trippy thriller also stars Guy Pearce, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Hannah Waddingham.
