Following increased outreach from the Biden administration in recent months, the leaders of the world’s two largest economies are set to meet next week on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in San Francisco.

U.S. President Joe Biden will meet with President Xi Jinping of China on Nov. 15, building on their last meeting a year ago in Bali, Indonesia, the White House said on Friday. “The leaders will discuss issues in the U.S.-PRC bilateral relationship, the continued importance of maintaining open lines of communication, and a range of regional and global issues,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Topics of discussion will include how the U.S. and the People’s Republic of China can manage competition and work together where their interests align, according to the statement.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is meeting with her Chinese counterpart, He Lifeng, in San Francisco this week. Ahead of the two-day meeting, she said, “We’re ready to strengthen communication and dialogue with the U.S. at all levels.”

In Friday premarket trading, iShares MSCE China ETF (NASDAQ:MCHI) fell 0.5%, and iShares MSCI China A ETF (BATS:CNYA) shares also slipped 0.5%.
