    • The US Court of Appeals allows Trump’s tariffs to remain pending further arguments.
    • The court will hear more arguments on July 31, keeping tariffs for at least two months.
    • White House representatives have not commented on the court’s decision regarding tariffs.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Tuesday allowed President Donald Trump’s sweeping tariffs to stay in effect, pending further arguments.

The court said it plans to hear additional arguments on the matter on July 31, meaning the president’s tariffs will likely stay in effect for at least the next two months.

Supply chain experts previously told Business Insider that the ongoing legal battle is likely to drag on for months while the Trump administration fights to implement the president’s tariff strategy without congressional approval. In the meantime, they said to expect ongoing uncertainty in the market, continuing logistical turmoil for businesses, as well as additional price hikes and supply chain snarls for consumers.

The Tuesday decision extends the appeals court’s May 29 order, which had overturned a lower court’s ruling. The lower court had, on May 28, halted Trump’s tariff strategy on the grounds that he had overstepped his executive power.

Any subsequent appeals will be heard by the Supreme Court.

“The Trump administration is legally using the powers granted to the executive branch by the Constitution and Congress to address our country’s national emergencies of persistent goods trade deficits and drug trafficking,” White House spokesman Kush Desai told Business Insider. “The US Circuit Court of Appeals’ stay order is a welcome development, and we look forward to ultimately prevailing in court.”
