Here’s what we’re watching in transition world today:

    🗓️ What we’re watching

    • If all goes as expected on Monday, President-elect Donald Trump’s November victory will be certified peacefully, a stark contrast from President Joe Biden’s certification four years ago, when thousands of Trump’s supporters attacked the Capitol. More from POLITICO’s Kyle Cheney.
    • In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump threw his support behind having one sweeping border, energy and tax bill. “Republicans must unite, and quickly deliver these Historic Victories for the American People. Get smart, tough, and send the Bill to my desk to sign as soon as possible,” Trump said.
    • In endorsing a single bill, Trump effectively chose sides, opting for the too-big-to-fail approach favored by Speaker Mike Johnson over the strategy favored by Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who had been preparing to split Trump’s sprawling domestic agenda of tougher border security, energy deregulation and tax cuts into two packages, Rachael Bade writes this morning.

    👀 What’s Trump up to?

    • A number of House Republicans will descend on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club for meetings this week. Trump is planning to meet separately with the Freedom Caucus, House GOP Committee chairs and GOP lawmakers from New York, New Jersey and California, along with others.

    🚨What’s up with the administration?

    • In an email exchange with Axios, incoming chief of staff Susie Wiles laid out her plan for running the West Wing. “I don’t welcome people who want to work solo or be a star,” Wiles wrote. “My team and I will not tolerate backbiting, second-guessing inappropriately, or drama. These are counterproductive to the mission.”

📝ICYMI: Here are Trump’s latest administration picks

    • Trump fleshed out some of his senior White House staffers over the weekend, bringing back Robert Gabriel Jr., Nicholas F. Luna and William “Beau” Harrison as assistant to the president for policy, assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for strategic implementation and assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for operations, respectively. He also announced Stanley E. Woodward Jr. as assistant to the president and senior counselor.
