Roula Khalaf, Editor of the FT, selects her favourite stories in this weekly newsletter.

If you’re aiming to get to grips with investing in 2025, the latest Financial Times “lunch and learn” webinar is aimed at you.

Claer Barrett, the FT’s consumer editor and author of the Sort Your Financial Life Out course, will be joined by Stuart Kirk, the FT’s Skin In the Game columnist and Moira O’Neill, FT personal finance columnist, for a one hour interactive webinar designed to boost your financial confidence.

Readers need to register in advance to attend this free event to be held at 12.30pm on Friday January 24, by clicking here.

With Donald Trump on the cusp of a second White House term, the experts will discuss the global investment themes that are set to dominate the year ahead — and how more experienced investors and those just getting started could potentially play them.

Barrett and her guests will also discuss how investors can make the most of tax-free investment allowances including stocks and shares Isas and pensions, and how retirement saving has been impacted by the Autumn Budget. They will provide a jargon-free guide to how different investment products work, including funds, shares and investment trusts, and how they can be used to build a balanced portfolio.

This is a live streamed event, and online participants will be able to ask the panel questions (note: this is not intended as an investment recommendation, or individual financial advice).

The event builds on material from the fully-updated Sort Your Financial Life Out course for 2025. FT subscribers in the UK can sign up here for free to receive this series of six weekly emails with educational content about all aspects of managing your money.
