    India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.11% By Investing.com

    Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

    At the close in NSE, the fell 1.11%, while the index declined 1.08%.

    The best performers of the session on the were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:), which rose 0.68% or 16.25 points to trade at 2,421.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:) added 0.46% or 7.65 points to end at 1,671.25 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was up 0.35% or 14.55 points to 4,118.95 in late trade.

    The worst performers of the session were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.43% or 12.95 points to trade at 279.55 at the close. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.90% or 258.25 points to end at 6,362.35 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was down 3.47% or 139.00 points to 3,863.75.

    The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which rose 0.78% to 2,423.70, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 0.33% to settle at 4,116.40 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.19% to close at 1,667.95.

    The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 4.43% to 279.55 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.94% to settle at 11,164.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.93% to 1,449.15 at the close.

    Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1849 to 328 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2846 fell and 857 advanced, while 75 ended unchanged.

    The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.83% to 16.33 a new 52-week high.

    Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.48% or 9.75 to $2,034.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.12% or 0.88 to hit $77.99 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.88 to trade at $81.78 a barrel.

    USD/INR was up 0.02% to 82.93, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 89.68.

    The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.04.
