The gloves are off, and Elon Musk isn’t playing nice with Google.
On Thursday night, the Tesla CEO wrote multiple posts slamming Google on X. This was after Google on Thursday paused its chatbot Gemini’s image generation feature, following backlash from some users who claimed the feature was “woke.”
“I’m glad that Google overplayed their hand with their AI image generation, as it made their insane racist, anti-civilizational programming clear to all,” Elon Musk wrote in one of his X posts on Thursday.
Google said in an earlier statement on Wednesday that it was “aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions.” In that post, the company said Gemini is “missing the mark” and that the company is “working to improve these kinds of depictions immediately.”
Google said in a subsequent statement on Thursday that it “will re-release an improved version soon.”
But Google’s statement didn’t appear to appease Musk.
The Tesla billionaire on Thursday also went after Gemini’s product lead, Jack Krawczyk. Krawczyk said on Wednesday that Gemini’s image generation capabilities were designed to “reflect our global user base.”
“I’m not picking on some rando. This nut is a big part of why Google’s AI is so racist & sexist,” Musk wrote on X on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, Musk claimed on X that he ran a Google search on his phone and discovered that the “top two choices are pro censorship.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has ripped companies for embracing what he claims are flawed corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. Musk has also criticized other AI firms, like Sam Altman’s OpenAI, in favor of X’s AI, Grok.
Representatives for Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
