You probably didn’t have “American Idol winner gets into public argument with toy store online” on your bingo card this week — but here we are.
On Saturday, Three-time Grammy winner and former talk show host Kelly Clarkson posted on X, criticizing the “Art of Play” toy shop in Brooklyn.
Clarkson said she was considering buying a few things, but was “looked at as if I couldn’t afford it.” She compared the experience to Julia Roberts’ character in “Pretty Woman.”
“Wow, dude,” she wrote. “You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale.” The post racked up more than 44 million views as of Monday afternoon.
The store responded, saying Clarkson was interested in a “one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton” that’s used in magic shows there and that it wasn’t for sale. Clarkson fired back, the store responded again … Business Insider’s Amanda Goh summed up the whole small-business dispute if you need to catch up.
Of course, the internet doesn’t miss a chance to chime in on the celebrity drama — especially one over a fake bird.
“Kelly Clarkson just came into my apartment and demanded to buy a load bearing wall,” wrote @missladysalad on X.
Another user poked fun at Marco Rubio:
Others imagined how to explain it all — or how “Molly” felt about the drama.
