India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.49% By Investing.com

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.49% to hit a new all time high, while the index climbed 0.47%.

The best performers of the session on the were Coal India Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.58% or 15.75 points to trade at 455.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) added 3.37% or 19.75 points to end at 605.50 and ITC Ltd (NS:) was up 2.32% or 9.90 points to 436.25 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.04% or 12.95 points to trade at 621.00 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.68% or 24.30 points to end at 1,426.00 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.65% or 213.00 points to 12,675.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.28% to 436.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.15% to settle at 1,820.60 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.10% to close at 1,229.10.

The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.60% to 12,684.25 in late trade, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.88% to settle at 1,535.00 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.73% to 3,756.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.18% to 11.11 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.20% or 4.65 to $2,353.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.51 to hit $85.70 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.45 to trade at $90.03 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.02% to 83.39, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 89.50.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 105.06.
