Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the rose 0.18% to hit a new 1-month high, while the index climbed 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.11% or 271.25 points to trade at 9,004.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) added 2.34% or 127.05 points to end at 5,549.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:) was up 2.23% or 15.10 points to 690.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.59% or 38.05 points to trade at 2,358.55 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) declined 1.20% or 10.05 points to end at 825.50 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.18% or 17.45 points to 1,466.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which rose 3.14% to 9,000.65, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.19% to settle at 1,227.15 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.91% to close at 1,014.55.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.19% to 1,466.35 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.95% to settle at 3,120.00 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.02% to 208.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1052 to 1047 and 43 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1809 rose and 1774 declined, while 139 ended unchanged.

Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 3.14% or 274.10 to 9,000.65. Shares in Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.19% or 26.30 to 1,227.15. Shares in Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 1.91% or 19.05 to 1,014.55.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.39% or 8.00 to $2,039.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.03% or 0.80 to hit $78.66 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.87 to trade at $83.75 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.37, while EUR/INR fell 0.48% to 90.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 103.24.
